Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Weight Management Intensive include?
The Intensive consists of two 30-minute GP telehealth consultations focused specifically on weight management.
The first appointment involves a structured medical assessment, including review of your weight and metabolic history, contributing factors and current medications. Pathology referral is arranged where clinically indicated.
A follow-up consultation is generally booked one week later to review results and develop a personalised management plan.
Why does the booking calendar show 45 minutes?
We allocate 45 minutes specifically for your appointment.
Your consultation time with the GP is 30 minutes. The remaining 15 minutes is reserved to prepare your referrals, prescriptions, pathology requests and written management plan following your consultation.
This ensures your care is thorough and complete, rather than rushed or processed separately at a later time.
Are Medicare or Private Health Insurance Rebates applicable?
At present, the Weight Management Intensive does not attract Medicare or private health insurance rebates.
The consultation is offered as a private service.
Do I need to have blood tests before booking?
You do not need to arrange blood tests before your first appointment.
If you have had recent blood tests, you are welcome to bring copies to your initial consultation for review. This may reduce the need for additional testing.
Where clinically appropriate, pathology will be organised during your first consultation and reviewed together at your follow-up appointment.
Will medication be prescribed?
Treatment recommendations are individualised and based on your medical history, clinical assessment and pathology results.
Where appropriate and safe, medication may be prescribed during the second consultation once all relevant information has been reviewed.
Our service focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying drivers contributing to weight gain and equipping you with practical strategies to support long-term weight management. We are not a prescription-only service.
To better understand our clinical approach, you may wish to view a replay of our Weight Loss Masterclass.
What happens after the Intensive?
At the conclusion of the two consultations, you will have a clear, structured management plan.
You may choose to continue care with your regular GP or treating practitioner for continuity of care.
If you do not have a regular GP and are deemed clinically suitable for ongoing Telehealth care, you will be provided with access to our Graduate Services for continued supervision.
Is this service focused on weight loss or overall health?
The Intensive focuses on weight management within the context of your overall metabolic health, safety and long-term wellbeing.
This service does not replace your regular GP and is designed to complement ongoing primary care.
