Enlighten Me wins Outstanding Patient Education Award at the Patients Australia Gala 2025

Enlighten Me are proud to announce that we have been named the national winner of the Outstanding Patient Education Award at the 2025 Patients Australia Gala.

This award, sponsored by HCF and presented by Dr Christopher Pettigrew, Head of the HCF Research Foundation, recognises individuals and organisations that are making health information more accessible, inclusive, and impactful. The honour aligns with our core belief that informed patients are better equipped to take charge of their health and make meaningful, sustainable decisions.

At Enlighten Me, education is not an optional add-on — it is a foundational component of care. Our medically supervised weight loss program is designed to empower patients with clear, evidence-based information that supports informed decision-making.

From the outset, our model has prioritised a multidisciplinary, digital-first approach that integrates medical, nutritional, and exercise support. Video modules and structured learning pathways are provided prior to clinical appointments, ensuring that patients and clinicians can focus on shared decision-making.

Enlighten Me was developed to address a critical gap in healthcare: accessible, stigma-free weight management for people across all regions and stages of life. More than 22% of our patients live in rural or remote areas, and our digital platform enables them to receive high-quality, team-based care without geographic barriers.

Our clinical model is based on a biopsychosocial framework, recognising the complex interplay between physiology, behaviour, environment, and mindset. Conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, perimenopause, insulin resistance and sleep apnoea are considered within the broader context of metabolic health and personal wellbeing.

Measurable and Meaningful Results

The program’s results continue to reflect the impact of this integrated approach:

• An average weight loss of 15–18% within four months
• Over 70% of patients continuing beyond their initial program
• Reductions in polypharmacy, improvements in energy and mobility, and significant enhancements to quality of life

These outcomes demonstrate the value of combining education, access, and clinical care in a way that supports sustainable change.
