Medical Weight Management Assessment

A dedicated consultation for individuals seeking a thoughtful medical assessment of their weight and the factors that may be influencing it.

Together we explore your health history, previous weight loss experiences, and whether further investigations or treatment approaches may be appropriate.

You will leave with greater clarity about your weight and health, along with a written summary you can reflect on or share with your healthcare team.

  • Have previously tried weight loss medications but felt you need a thorough assessment
  • Feel that your progress has plateaued and would value a fresh medical perspective

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Weight Management Assessment include?

The Weight Management Assessment is a 30 minute GP telehealth consultation focused on weight and metabolic health.

During the consultation we review your weight history, previous weight loss experiences, current medications and any health factors that may be contributing to weight changes. Recent investigations can be reviewed, or pathology referrals can be provided if clinically appropriate.

Following the consultation, you will receive a written summary outlining the key discussion points and potential next steps. This can be useful for your own reflection or to share with your treating healthcare team.

If ongoing care through telehealth is appropriate, you will also be provided with information on how to arrange follow up consultations through our Graduate Services.

Are Medicare or Private Health Insurance Rebates applicable?

At present, the Weight Management Intensive does not attract Medicare or private health insurance rebates.

The consultation is offered as a private service.

Do I need to have blood tests before booking?

You do not need to arrange blood tests before your first appointment.

If you have had recent blood tests, you are welcome to bring copies to your consultation so they can be reviewed together. This may reduce the need for additional testing.

If further investigations are helpful, pathology referrals can be arranged during the consultation.

Will medication be prescribed?

Treatment recommendations are individualised and based on your medical history, clinical assessment and available investigations.

In some situations, medication may be prescribed during the consultation if there is sufficient information to do so safely. In other cases, further information such as blood tests or additional assessment may be recommended before treatment options are discussed.

Our service focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying factors that may be contributing to weight gain and supporting sustainable, long-term weight management. We are not a prescription-only service.

What happens after the Assessment?

Following your consultation, you will receive a written summary outlining the key discussion points and potential next steps. This can be helpful for your own reflection or shared with your regular GP or healthcare team to support continuity of care.

Some patients choose to continue their care with their regular GP or treating practitioner.

For those who would like ongoing support through Enlighten Me, you may also choose to book follow-up appointments through our Graduate Services, where clinically appropriate. These services offer 20 minute telehealth consultations and include:

  • GP consultations – $157.50
  • Nutritionist consultations – $110
  • Exercise Physiologist consultations – $110

These appointments provide ongoing monitoring and support for patients who wish to continue their care with our team.

Is this service focused on weight loss or overall health?

The assessment focuses on weight management within the context of your overall metabolic health, safety and long-term wellbeing.

This service does not replace your regular GP and is designed to complement ongoing primary care.

Can I use this service if I live overseas?

At this time, the Medical Weight Management Assessment is available only to individuals located within Australia.
