Dr Angela Kwong Driving Change in Women's Health with Women’s Agenda

In a world where misinformation spreads faster than facts, being part of a project that brings clarity, compassion and credibility to women’s health felt deeply meaningful.

Recently, Enlighten Me Founder Dr. Angela Kwong was invited by Women's Agenda to take part in a video project that brought together health professionals, advocates and storytellers with one shared purpose: to help women cut through the noise and find health information they can truly trust.

Too often, women are left to navigate their health alone. They are told their symptoms are normal - or all in their head. They are offered quick fixes instead of long-term care. They are marketed “solutions” that overpromise and underdeliver. And they are left blaming themselves, when in reality, they have been let down by a system that has not always listened, validated or supported them.

As a GP working in metabolic and weight management care, Dr. Kwong sees this every day. But she also sees what happens when healthcare is delivered differently - when the whole person is considered: their biology, environment, mental load, family life and values. When they are told, “you are not failing - the system just has not made space for your story.”

When shame is replaced with support, and hype is replaced with honest, evidence-based advice, lives change.

This is the kind of care Dr. Kwong believes in, and she was grateful to have shared that message as part of this project.

A Continuing Connection

This collaboration with Women’s Agenda also felt like a full-circle moment. Last year, Dr. Kwong was honoured to receive their Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year award as part of the Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards.

At the time, the judges described her work with Enlighten Me as having “a clear business model and innovative approach to addressing complex health challenges” and recognised the substantial vision and potential of the program to create a meaningful impact.

Dr. Kwong has always believed that we are stronger when we work together, and that award - along with her acceptance speech, ‘We are all driving change together’ - remains a reminder of what is possible when passionate people unite around a shared mission.

Why This Work Matters

Health misinformation can harm people at every stage of their journey, but it is especially detrimental for women - who have historically been underserved, underdiagnosed and under-researched.

By bringing accurate, accessible and empathetic information into the conversation, projects like this one with Women’s Agenda create more than awareness - they build trust. And trust is the foundation on which better healthcare outcomes are built.

At Enlighten Me, we are committed to being part of this change. Whether it is through our medically supervised weight management program or education for both the public and healthcare professionals, our mission is to help people feel heard, supported and informed.

Because when women have access to reliable information and evidence-based care, they are empowered not just to take control of their health - but to thrive.
