Dietitians Unite 2025 - Why this event is a Milestone for Weight Management Collaboration in Healthcare

As the conversation around weight and health continues to evolve, so too must our approach to care.

In recent years, we've seen significant advances in both the science of obesity and the treatment options available - from GLP-1 agonists to renewed focus on the microbiome, the role of trauma, and the importance of long-term support.

But, alongside this progress, one truth becomes even clearer: no single profession holds all the answers

Which is why the upcoming Dietitians Unite Event feels like a landmark moment.

With only a handful of tickets remaining, it's quickly becoming one of the most talked-about gatherings in 2025 for health professionals who work - or want to work - in the weight management space.

And, we're proud that our Founder, Dr. Angela Kwong, has been invited to present alongside leading clinicians, researchers and educators in this space.

A Place for True Collaboration

This event isn't just a conference.

It's a space where Dietitians, GP's, Pharmacists and other Health Professionals can come together, not in parallel, but in conversation.

For too long, care in this area has been fragmented. Patients bounce between providers, repeating their story, juggling advice, or slipping through the cracks altogether. And as the complexity of weight-related health grows - both biologically and socially - we need to move beyond the idea of treating obesity simply an individual behavioural issue.

This event recognises this. It offers a holistic, forward-thinking agenda that acknowledges the real-life challenges patients face, and the equally real constraints that clinicians work within. It's designed for health professionals who are looking more than your average development update - they want meaningful dialogue, practical strategies, and a better way forward.

What to Expect

The sessions will explore topics including:

  • Navigating obesity medications in primary care
  • Supporting patients through perimenopause and metabolic changes
  • The intersection of trauma, body image and health behaviour
  • Working alongside patients with complex needs
  • Bridging the gap between lifestyle, pharmacotherapy and long-term care

The event features interactive case studies, panel discussions and multidisciplinary presentations - the kind that challenge assumptions - foster empathy and ignite new ideas.

Dr. Angela Kwong's Session: Clinical and Collaborative Insights

Our Founder will be speaking on a topic that lies at the heart of her work - how we can better collaborate across disciplines to support patients using obesity treatments

As a GP and the Founder of a multidisciplinary medically supervised weight loss program, Dr. Angela works daily with patients navigating the medical, emotional and social aspects of weight. Her session will delve into the practicalities of prescribing, monitoring and supporting patients taking GLP-1's, and other medications - but more importantly, she'll speak to the power of a team-based approach.

What do Dietitians need to know about prescribing pathways and side effects?

How do we all stay aligned on patient goals?

These are common questions that Dr. Angela will be addressing - not from a theoretical lens, but grounded in real-world practice. Her hope is that this session helps break down silos, build mutual understanding, and pave the way for more compassionate, effective care.

Why this moment matters

We're at a pivotal point in how we understand and approach weight and health.

The stigma around obesity still lingers - often in our systems, sometimes in our language, and occasionally in ourselves. But events like this show that change is happening.

It's in the conversations that recognise weight as a chronic condition, not a character flaw. And in the collaborative spaces where we challenge norms, ask better questions, and make care more inclusive and responsive.

So, if you're a Healthcare Professional wanting to be part of this evolution - to listen, learn, contribute and connect - this event certainly offers that opportunity.

Let’s keep pushing forward — together.
